Welcome to your new Wiki, Grade 8's! We will use this math journal to:
- journal about what we have learned in math
- find links to some neat practice sites
- collaborate with your classmates, and more!
Your first challenge is to create a "pen name" for yourself. Go to http://wordsmith.org/anagram/. Enter your first name, and choose the one that best represents you.
Your second challenge is to create your "wild self" portrait. Go to http://www.buildyourwildself.com/. Enter your "pen name" for your name and create the character which best represents you. When complete, follow instructions to save the picture as your desktop. When saving it, name the file according to your chosen pen name. It will be in Bitmap format.
Your third challenge is to convert your photo to a JPEG format.
Open "Paint" program (found under "Accessories"). From inside "Paint", open your saved photo. Make sure you save it under your pen name as a JPEG file.
Your fourth challenge is to upload your photo to this wiki. Log in and click on "Edit." Click on the colourful square icon (when you hover over it, you will see "Insert images and files"). Click on the "Upload Files" tab and follow instructions to upload. Click "Save" when done.
Your fifth challenge is to upload your photo to your personal page and resize it appropriately. While logged in, click on your personal home page. Click on "Edit." Click on the "Insert images and files" icon. Find your file and follow instructions to insert. The picture will be huge. Drag the "handles" on the picture to resize. Click "Save" when done.
Now you may go to the "Journal Questions" page to answer your first question. Have fun wikiing! :O)
